2017 marks an exciting change in the way junior baseball will be delivered in the Hastings.
These changes have been put in place to:
Facilitate the continued growth of baseball in the Hastings;
Better assist families to use school holidays for the purpose of family trips and relaxation;
Encourage players and parents to form and manage their own teams.
When is the Junior Season in 2017?
Hastings Junior Baseball will commence 30 April 2017 with an initial 2x
Come & Try days on 30 April and 7 May. These weekends will also provide the opportunity to register your child.
Hastings Junior Baseball will run for 12 weeks however will not operate over School Holidays and June Long Weekend with the season dates as follows:
30 April to 26 June (11 June Bye)
23 July to 6 August
A presentation day will be held on the final week of competition Sunday, 6 August 2017
What Grades will be played?
Hastings Baseball is looking to run three separate grades of baseball in the Winter Season. These are:
T-Ball - 5yrs to 8 yrs
Zooka Ball / Coach pitch - 9yrs to 12 yrs
Live Ball (pending play competency levels) - 13yrs to 16yrs
Our ability to deliver each grade of competition will depend on the number of registered players – So everyone is encouraged to spread the word and pull together a team (or part team) with their friends!
How will teams be formed?
Hastings Baseball will continue to assist players who do not have an established team to either join an incomplete team, or to form their own team.
Who will run the team?
Hastings Baseball will provide experienced people to assist with the running of games on Sunday, and to act as an Umpire.
Where ever possible, Hastings Baseball is encouraging (and will provide all necessary support) to players and parents to manage and assist the Association with the coordination of their individual teams (including with any mid-week training). Hastings Baseball will continue to provide as much support as possible to players, parents and teams.
Running a team is not difficult. It mainly requires a parent who is prepared to act as a contact point for their team and to ensure that their players are available for each game.
Hastings Baseball will be in regular contact with Team Managers to assist them with their teams.
Where will games be played?
The Home of Hastings Baseball is at Blackbutt Oval, Wauchope. At this stage, junior games will be held at Blackbutt.
What time are games?
Game times will be announced once player numbers are known and the season draw is published. At this stage, all games will be scheduled for Sunday mornings, no earlier than 8.30am and no later than midday.
What happens if a round is washed out?
To ensure that each season runs within the designated school term, there will be no substitutes for washed out games.
Will there be training?
Training will take place each Sunday for 30 minutes prior to the commencement of games. Games will follow with constant coaching throughout for a further 1 hour.
What is the cost?
Registration fees for the Winter Season will be $80 per junior.
When are fees due?
Registrations and fees for the Winter Season are due (payable) no later than 7 May 2017 to enable time for teams to be formed and announced.
